In case you didn't already guess, this is almost all "friends only" and so if you're not my "friend" and really want to know the intimate deets of my life you should do a comment, you know?

For some reason I can't actually put the picture here, but my you can look at my new haircut here. It is remarkably similar to Jim's.

Also! Taura let me come to her house for a kitten photo shoot . I think that Skitty still needs a home if you have one.

My local non-smoking gay man bar, Urge, has a monthly contest to draw a naked man. The winner gets $100! Do you think I can enter if I'm not a gay man?

p.s. Sushi Monday happened tonight. That's right, MONDAY! Justin and Becky and I went and it was pretty much the highlight of my day.

p.p.s. Please look at my newest t-shirt design and tell me if you like it. If you don't like it . . . you don't have to tell me. The old makeout shirt design didn't have the consent of both models, but the new design does! So there's no moral dilemma!

updates on three topics @ 05:30 pm

music: the books mix

1. My Christmas party plans are going great! Eight people have RSVP'd yes! I might try to figure out some sort of activity in my bedroom so that there will be more space for people to spread out into. Plus: how awesome would TWO FLOORS OF CHRISTMAS FUN be? Today I finally found the perfect present basket. It's very nice and sturdy. I want to start wrapping presents for it now.

2. I just finished my book-themed mix CD. The final track listing is:

1. Paperback Writer by the Beatles
2. Song for Myla Goldberg by the Decemberists
3. Open Book by Cake
4. Hirsute Potter by the Sour Grapes
5. Nancy Drew by Tuscadero
6. Books Written for Girls by Camera Obscura
7. These Photographs by Joshua Radin
8. Julie of the Wolves by Kaia
9. Wordy Rappinghood by Tom Tom Club
10. Romeo and Juliet by Dire Straits
11. Wrapped up in Books by Belle and Sebastian
12. Jean Paul Sartre by the Crabs
13. We Save Ron's Life, part 8 by Harry and the Potters
14. Who Wrote Holden Caulfield? by Green Day

I feel pretty good about it.

3. I played the Holly Hobbie Wishing Well game last night with Sarah and Katy and Joe, and it was more fun than I expected. Also more complicated. It pretty much ruled.

Tonight I'm going to the Grocery Outlet in Gresham and then to hang out with Justin and Jaya. Fun!

You Date Like a Man

According to studies on dating, you date like a man.
You date casually and frequently, getting serious with select people over time.

Physical attraction and chemistry is very important to you.
And if there's nothing more than a physical connection, that's okay with you (at least for a while).

You are definitely looking for love, but you are in no rush to find it.
You figure love will eventually come your way, and you're not going to live like a monk while you're waiting!

Yeeow!

a perfect world @ 12:55 pm

I wish I had a robot slave to clean my room. And a robot chef to make me breakfast. And I would just lay back and listen to emo CDs from the library all day.

p.s. Katie Cercone mailed me the prettiest, most delicious-looking* cookies the day after I decided to give up sugar! I'm bringing them to sushi tonight if you want one.

p.p.s. The new book by my new fave YA author SUCKS. I am so heartbroken.

*Okay, I admit, I ate one. Just one! And it WAS delicious! It was my only sugary snack all day.

The mono seems to be subsiding.

Last night found me on an unexpected double date. The highlight was talking about medical records. Oh, wait! The highlight was discovering that Dot's has a delicious garden salad. Who knew? It came with a bucket of ranch dressing. I put it on my salad, then everyone dipped French fries into it, and there was still enough left to dress another salad or three.

Yesterday I spent most of the day in bed, watching Weeds on youtube and making pony bead bracelets for my raver costume. Some crazy things happen in the 2nd season!

Today my goals are to clean my room and wash some dishes before my roommates get sick of them and put them all in my bed.
But first I will go to the Bins with the Swingset family.

I am making a mix CD of songs that reference books for a swap. Here is my playlist so far:

1. Wrapped up in Books by Belle and Sebastian
2. Song for Myla Goldberg by the Decemberists
3. Hirsute Potter by the Sour Grapes
4. Nancy Drew by Tuscadero
5. Books Written for Girls by Camera Obscura
6. Julie of the Wolves by Kaia
7. Open Book by Cake
8. Jean Paul Sartre by the Crabs
9. something by Harry and the Potters (currently: "We Save Ron's Life, part 8")
10. Mesopotamia by the B-52s (sort of a stretch, but it says "I should read a book.")

I didn't think I'd be able to think of so many, but I need some more. I expect each of you to think of at least one song that references books in some way.

Get to work.

+ Katy loaned me the first season of Veronica Mars and I'm pretty into it so far. But do you have any idea how many HIPAA violations she just committed?
+ I got an order for 6 pads from a woman who says that they make her look forward to her period.
+ This weekend, my mom and Katy and I are going to buy pumpkins from the people from Little People Big World.
+ I was the first person to get my copy of the new Lemony Snicket book from the library.
+Plans for my Christmas party are coming along swimmingly.

I hate writing cover letters.

I feel like I'm in school, procrastinating on the internet while writing a paper.

Tonight I discovered that my clever invention of nachos with French fries instead of chips has already been invented, when I ordered it at the Triple Nickel on Belmont. They called them Irish Nachos. The guacamole was nast.

I said to Katy, "Those people at the bar had burgers that looked pretty good. I think I'll get a gardenburger next time we come here." She said, "I don't think there's going to be a next time."

Y'all,
It's been a very good day so far.

First I went to the dentist, and despite the two cavities and the lecture about smoking, my teeth are very clean and shiny now and I love it.

On the way to the dentist, I got a call from my crush. If only I had a scanner, I would attach a link to the ATC that I made that's about getting a call from your crush.

Then I mailed a large, glittery Valentine to Greig Means.

Then I went to the Knittn Kitten and Touchstone Coffeehouse with Deb and Gillian. We did mind puzzles.

Then I came home to find: an invitation to Theresa's scholarship dinner and TWO packages! One is a dance mix CD from a girl in Japan and the other is a bag of goodies and a CD from a girl in Canada who already made me a CD for a swap, but then I wrote her a letter thanking her, so she made me another CD!

Also, I've been reading "Liquor" by Poppy Z Brite, which is good, although completely gay-sex-free. And it's even about a man-couple! Where's the Poppy Z Brite I loved in high school?

I'm listening to the Japanese dance music right now. Gillian and Theresa are turning green with envy.

mark your calendars @ 11:19 pm

mood: excited

I am thinking that my Christmas party will be on December 16th. This is a Saturday. I'm going to send an evite. If you don't think I have your email address and want to come, you should give it to me. Also if you want to come to my spin-the-bottle party, which I'm thinking will be mid-October? The 7th or the 14th? Is someone else having a party one of those nights? I have to consult with Patrick before I decide for sure, but that's my tentative plan.

Washington @ 10:21 am

location: home
mood: calm
music: the Crabs

This weekend I went to 6 places in the state of Washington. They were:

1. Seattle to see my friend Cait, which was short but awesome. I saw her super-cute apartment, which does not really have a bathroom door, then we went to brunch at a fancy restaurant. I had pancakes.

2. Spanaway to visit my nephews and sister-in-law. Caleb (age 3.5) likes to start all of his sentences with "because," which is cute, but sort of confusing. He doesn't really understand cause-and-effect. Bryce (age 1.5) seemed afraid of me, and kept waving at my car and saying "bye!" I think it was a hint. I also held the new kitten, Casey, who I wanted to hate because she was the instant replacement for Bella, but who can hate a kitten? She was so sweet and tiny. Caleb said, "A car ran over Bella. Was it your car?" I said, "It certainly was not my car!"

3. The Tacoma Mall, where I purchased a totally sweet pair of pants that are dry-clean-only. I'm wearing them right now.

4. Also in Tacoma, I went to a slumber party at my former co-worker Erin's house, which was fun. She made a Dutch Baby for breakfast, which was very exciting, and I can't wait to go to Violet's and recreate the experience. We also walked on the water's edge and Kimber found a teeny dead crab. I wanted him to take it home and feed it to his cats, but he declined.

(I know that both 3 and 4 took place in Tacoma, but on opposite sides of town. Also, they were totally different experiences, so I'm counting them separately.)

5. Olympia, where Gillian and I toured Robbe's rad house. He has so many plans for the yard and painting and turning the attic into an awesome bedroom.

6. The Vancouver Mall, where I purchased 2 more pairs of pants and 2 shirts. I was a shopaholic. Maybe I'll wear one of my new shirts with my new pants to work today, since I sure can't wear the Cheeto-covered white tank top I'm wearing now.

After I returned to my home state, I watched the series finale of Six Feet Under with Alison and Staci and I almost started crying.
